CFHT Wide eld IR Imager
Some of the scientiic projects and roles which a CFHT wideeeld near-IR imager could fulll are explored. To achieve the scientiic goals it is argued that the eld size should be >20 0 and the array should be at least 6K 6K. The imager should incorporate tip/tilt compensation and automatic focus controls to be competitive with the performance of other 4 and 8m class telescopes.
